ABOUT
Abby Keul

I reduce textile waste and meterage in the design stage of production-grade pattern development.
Designers lead with their functional and aesthetic constraints and our projects make use of a range of strategies that increase a pattern's cut layout efficiency.
Micro design decisions, grade rules, fabric constraints, and cut plans all add up to determine cut layout efficiency. My goal is to guide design teams toward a range of efficient design permutations, prioritizing original pattern integrity and the overall design vision.
Currently, I am using machine learning tools to detect efficient feature combinations and building custom API tools for commercial pattern cutting software to enable design-for-layout workflows with designer feedback.
